Michael Drzmisek Sōzui

Born in Switzerland, Michael graduated from The College of Arts and Crafts in Zurich. His first contact with Japanese culture was through the martial art of Aikido. He originally studied Japanese calligraphy but later began to learn about the tea ceremony to complement his martial arts studies. After becoming more deeply interested in tea, he came to Japan to focus on the study and practice of tea.

In 2007 he was granted the Chamei (tea name) “Sōzui” by Iemoto Sen Soshitsu XVI.
